~*~*~*~*`*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* Happy Thanksgiving Fellow Quilters Can you believe Halloween just flew by and Thanksgiving is just around the corner? The older I get the faster time seems to fly and that just means I have to quilt more each night in order to get all the projects going that I have seen and want to do. Like all of you I will never have enough time to complete them all. What wonderful fabrics and patterns are out this time of year! Of course the first project to be completed has to be the brown bag challenge. How are you all moving with that one? Right behind it comes, the secret pal gifts for December and our thank you gift for the person who has been giving to us. Then comes; the Christmas gifts for family and friends. I think I am going to be very busy the next two months. I hope your Thanksgiving is a very happy one. Great Quilting to All, ~*~*~*~*`*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* From the Editors Desk Hello fellow quilters!!!! ~*~*~*~*`*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* Up Coming Events 2008

Overwhelmingly, you all thought that we should continue with the various fundraisers that we do through out the year. (50/50 and the Silent Auction.) Pillowcase making is the number one project that members enjoy doing. With a fairly even number of votes to continue with our other projects, (FSYR, Soldier quilts, NICU etc.). In addition, over 50% of you indicated that we had just the right amount of projects over the course of the year. We will take the input and come back to you with a plan for 09. I can tell you that we are leaning toward moving our focus from NICU to the Love Bundle Quilts for Children with Cancer, shared at the October meeting by Renita and Pat. Rest assured that we will have something for everyone to participate in as much or as little as they would like to. ~*~*~*~*`*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* Block of the Month The Block of the Month pattern for November is posted on the 'byannie' site that you can access through our PQ-hypersite website! There will be copies of the pattern at the November meeting. This month’s block is a school house and the technique to use is paper piecing. There will be samples made for you to see. If you want to send a photo of your block to include in the next newsletter, please feel free to e-mail it to nsantiago2@tampabay.rr.com. ~*~*~*~*`*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* WANTED BLOCK We are requesting to our fellow quilters to bring a block to the Christmas party. The block can be any size, pieced or appliqué. As you know we sometimes we start a project and make extra blocks that never make to the finish quilts, or the block is part of an UFO. What to do with this block? Well the poor block end up in box, or bag, maybe in a drawer forgotten. Well this Christmas we are going to look for this block get it out from where it is hiding or forgotten. We are going to signed our name and bring it to the party. There will be a table that will be collecting these blocks. Thanks in advance for cooperating in rescuing these poor souls.
Christmas Party Blocks The Christmas Party Blocks are here!! The baggiesare available at the meetings for $1.00 each. 1. The appliqué baggie contains the background fabric for a snowman block and a couple of different patterns. You supply the fabric for the snowman, snow woman, or snow family. Click here for extra patterns and ideas are available online or you can use another pattern of your choice.2. The pieced block baggie contains the directions, background fabric, and the green fabric for 2 blocks. You need to supply the red fabric to complete one of the blocks. It's all explained in the baggie! For those of you who have never participated in this event before, here's a quick explanation. First of all, it is completely voluntary. If you decide to purchase a baggie, please complete it according to the enclosed directions and bring it to the Christmas party in December. Make sure you pin your name to the block or write your name in the seam allowance on the back of each block you make so the receiver knows who made it.Your name will be put into a hat as having made a block. One person's name will be drawn out of the hat and that person will win enough blocks in that group (pieced or appliqué) to make a quilt. Usually there is enough participation to have enough for several people to win. Have fun with this and good luck!! If you have any questions, call Susan Herman @ 596-9659 or email at dherman1@tampabay.rr.com. ~*~*~*~*`*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* November Birthdays 11/07 – Gale Pittman ~*~*~*~*`*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* ~*~*~*~*`*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* Brown Bag Challenge - Drum Roll for the great reveal in November!!!!! Have fun and if you have any questions, please contact me at 727-644-5685 or wickedgirl2u@yahoo.com ~*~*~*~*`*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* Article - Types of Quilts - Album Quilt Each month we are going to feature a different type of quilts. Here is the first installment. An album quilt is a quilt where each block is done and signed by a different quilter. Each contributor will provide an appliqué or pieced block inscribed with a message or signature. A group of friend gets together and with their combine talents creates an entire quilt. The album quilt is sometimes called a Friendship quilt. These quilts have the collected knowledge, experience, wisdom and skill of quilters who made them. Sometimes they are accompanied by letters, diaries or journals to record the journey of making the quilt. It is way to connect the women who made them to the recipient or owner of the quilt; it also creates precious memories for the group who made them. The block of these quilts could be same or different. There are several website that provide inspiration to quilter and instructions on how to makes these quilts. Here is couple of examples: ~*~*~*~*`*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* Eleanor Burns Call either store for details or to register. Seating is definitely limited!
