2008 Community Outreach Programs

Florida Sherriff's Youth Ranch -
Our main Community Outreach project this year is working with the kids at the Florida Sherriff's Youth Ranch. Our first work night was such a huge success and the girls are so much energetic fun. They are really looking forward to having the PQ's again so they can finish up their NICU quilts that we started this month.

THREAD!!

We are in need of quilting thread to use for the Community Outreach quilts. If you could bring thread appropriate for our soldier quilts, NICU quilts and upcoming quilts for the boys quilts for FSYR....please bring them to Robin Van Scoy at the June Meeting. THANKS.

Here are our Newly schedule dates for the FSYR!

Please RSVP to Robin VanScoy so that we are able to have enough to work one on one with each girl. Also, please bring your sewing basket/supplies when you attend as well as your machine. We are having mucho problemos with the machines we have for the girls and need to use our own. More info about the particular day will be sent as we near the date and have plans finalized.

Sit and Sew -

Outreach Quilts - Maureen Wallace and Sharon Kalinowski will be co-chairing the Outreach Quilt projects including the Soldier Quilts. Maureen, Sharon and a few members will be delivering quilts on Sept 17th. Contact Maureen if you would like to go along.

Silent Auction results! WOW what a great job the guild has done in the contribution to and then the purchase of the wonderful items in the May Party Silent Auction. We raised $943.00 from the Silent Auction as well as $102.00 from the May 50/50. Last year we raised $391.00 in the Silent Auction so we are up over 60%. A big thank you to all you contributed and all who purchased. The items were beautiful and we had a great time.
A special thanks to Penny Black for helping set up the bidding sheets and pricing.

Pillowcase Project - Renita Sullivan is leading this project that we are continuing this year. Members will again get their name placed in a jar for each pillow case that they complete and turn in to Renita. At the end of the year, a drawing will be made for a gift certificate to the quilt shop. Renita reported that the quilts were very well received and much appreciated. Fabrics for older boys, batiks and even some Happy Birthday fabrics were fun. Click here for directions to make a pillowcase.
